Men’s League Rules

  1. The Skittles League will be run in two separate halves. The first half will be scored as 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw plus a bonus point for each player who beats his opponent. The maximum being 8 points. The second half will be on a point per leg basis and 2 points for a win or 1 for a draw. The maximum being 7 points. In the event of the points being drawn, the winner will be the team with the highest number of pins. Matches to be played as the fixtures with the ‘home’ captain responsible for filling out the result card complete with full names. No highest score of the week will be given if the full name is not on the result card.
  2. Please ensure that early matches start promptly at 8.00pm even if only a few players are there. We have a duty of care to make sure that sticker-ups are not too late finishing. Matches can start as soon as the first captain puts names on the board.
  3. Any 2 players may play off in all leagues. Scores must be witnessed and entered in the play-off book, together with the opponent’s name and date and time of the match. Opposing captain to cross through the score and sign the play-off book. No XYZ will be allowed if play off score is used (a minimum of 4 players to be present on the night). A player not present to play by the time his team has completed the second leg will receive XYZ for each leg that he is absent. Only one XYZ per team allowed. If 6 players present, the play-off score must not be used.
  4. Cancellations for bad weather or family bereavement will be allowed, also in extreme circumstances when a captain cannot get a team even allowing for 2 players playing off. Captains to contact Rob Foxwell (01373 452627) or club (01373 466865), Rob to rearrange if possible. Any rearranged games will be played on a vacant night on the Mixed or Third alley. Any game not played if a team cannot fulfil fixture, the opponents will get 6 points (when 8 available) and a pin score based on average pins of total so far; 5 points (when 7 available) and average pin score as above.
  5. When playing off, players must play off on the alley where the match is to be played. This must be completed before 8.00pm or take place after the 9.00pm game has finished. If a player is playing off without a sticker-up, pins must be cleared from the alley between each ball thrown.
  6. A charge of £12.00 per team to be paid over the bar.  The steward (or bar staff) responsible for paying the sticker-up.
  7. The score in every match must be entered on the scoring sheets provided and signed by both captains. In order to qualify for the Highest Average Prize, the names of all players must be entered in full. Christian names only NOT enough. At least 2/3rd's of the league matches must be played in order to qualify, then all matches played must be counted for average. Any score that does not have a full name will not count towards Highest Average or Highest Score.
  8. Teams playing in league games have preference on the alley on the scheduled date and time.
  9. A pin (or pins) knocked over and again standing on end shall count as down and be removed from the alley.
  10. No pins shall be removed from the alley after being knocked down until they are dead.
  11. A player’s game must not be interrupted whilst he is playing.
  12. Any player must be a member of the Club and may only play for one team per half season in any league.  (Players can change team at the halfway point if necessary.)
  13. Should there be a dispute, a decision will be made by the secretary and 5 other committee members or team captains.
  14. No playing off permitted in any cup matches.

Nomination

Front pin first, nominate pin for subsequent balls once the front is down.  Front pin must be hit by the ball.  Each nominated pin must be hit by the ball to count.  Any spare where the front pin hit first, all pins to be put back up.  Any spare where the front pin not hit with first ball, only those pins hit with the front pin ball to be put back up.

League games

5 legs to be played in all matches.

Knock Out and Nomination

5 legs, total score wins.  If drawn after 5 legs, then a 6th leg to be played as a decider.



Mixed and Third Alley League Rules

  1.  (a) The Mixed Skittles League will be run in two separate halves. Teams will play each other twice in each half. The first half will be scored as 2   points for a win, 1 for a draw, plus a bonus point for each player who beats their opponent. The maximum being 8 points. The second half will be   on a point per leg basis and 2 points for a win or 1 for a draw. The maximum being 8 points. In the event of the points being drawn, the winner will   be the team with the highest number of pins. Matches to be played as the fixtures with the ‘home’ captain responsible for filling out the result   card complete with full names. No highest score of the week will be given if the full name is not on the result card.                                                 (b) The Third Alley Skittles League will be run in 3 sections. The first will be scored as 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw plus a bonus point for each   player who beats their opponent. The maximum being 8 points. The second and third sections will be on a point per leg basis and 2 points for a win   or 1 for a draw. The maximum being 8 points. In the event of the points being drawn, the winner will be the team with the highest number of   pins. Matches to be played as the fixtures with the ‘home’ captain responsible for filling out the result card complete with full names. No highest   score of the week will be given if the full name is not on the result card.
